Cathay Pacific to discontinue Doha service


ARGH! I'm booked on a DOH-HKG award J flight In April 2016
Any idea what the likely outcome would be? Move us onto the QR DOH-HKG flight?

I just checked my CX booking and they've renamed the flight to QR640 and it is now an A332 Can't beleive this - this is the third equipment change on separate flights for my award booking next year.

You won't dislike QR whose ticket is it (cx, QR, AA?)

Isn't QR using their older A332 J config for this route though? If so its a big downgrade from CX A333 J seat.

It is an AA ticket - I'm guessing I will need to have them reissue the ticket?

Likely rebooked onto the code share flying QR. Seats not as good on QR 332 as CX but still acceptable.

Is DXB an option?

Yeah I just checked its the old config with angled J seats. Specifically routed this trip get the best equipment - I guess you can never rely on aircraft schedules.

Not sure about DXB... as I've already booked a seperate award from FRA-DOH on QR (which will probably get changed from the a359 to a 332 the way my luck is going)

A bit off topic now but I don't get why QR is running 3 x A388 to BKK and a crummy 332 to HKG. Is the BKK demand really that high?

Sorry, didn't realise the difference between the QR 332 and this QR 333 (which I flew and wasn't bad even as angled lie flat); got mixed up because I flew LHR>DOH>HKG>PER and the DOH>HKG was the CX 333.

Why not try DOH>BKK>HKG?

I was just looking at that option actually -DOH-BKK-HKG-BNE (not sure if AA would price that as one award still) However I have my doubts that QR are likely to keep 3 daily A388 services to BKK so I might end up in the same boat regardless.

Doing further research it appears some of the QR A332s have been refurbished to a similar style seat to the all business class A319 like this: B/E Aerospace | Diamond Full-Flat Airline Seating - B/E Aerospace

Flew the refurbished A332 J seat recently and it is surprisingly comfortable except the tiny footrest area. Service and food of course was excellent
