My girlfriend will be over in NYC for a month later this year (Sept / Oct) and I will go visit at some stage. I'm about 80SC off SG requal.

CX have return flights via HKG for ~$1800 which look pretty good (in Economy Save - V bucket). Do these fares earn QFF SC, and if so, what will the earn be under the new scheme for SYD - xHKG - JFK return?

Trying to toss up whether the extra $400 is justified to book through QF.

Cheers

Looks like V scrapes in. But I'll defer to those who know more than I do.

Yes it does seem to scrape in. Should get 15+40+40+15 = 110 status credits on the new status credit earn table. Who knows at this stage how many points you will earn.

Forget the points. You'll earn more shopping at Woolies.

TomVexille and dajop are both right, V class earns with QF (but for how long, who knows) and your trip will earn more than enough to retain SG.

As for the actual status earn, it'll probably be 110 sc (15 to HK, 40 to JFK one way). I guess if they were feeling generous they could also label you 'East Aus to East USA' and give you 140 sc instead. But my money's on the lower 110. Either way you'll get the 80 you need.
