CX Flights Best J seats for a couple

We have just managed to get 2 J award seats flying NYC to SYD via HK.
Our first flight is on a 77W. We currently have seats 17D/G. Are these the best seats for a couple or being a window person myself should we select 2 single window seats behind each other?
We can also choose row 12, (in a sort of mini cabin) but seat guru says these seats can have noise from the toilets and gallery.
Any thoughts?

Our flight from HK to SYD is on 333 we have seats 12D/G near the front of the Business class cabin but it is one long cabin with toilets and gallery at the front.

Any thoughts? Most appreciated. We have not flown on CX before, nor in business class.

Having flown on both 77W and A330 - it really does not matter that much where you sit. The beauty of the CX J seats is that they are all largely all the same. It is down to whether you and your other half prefer to see each other and talk to each other during the flight (get the two centre seats then) or just want to look out of the window (get two window seats behind each other).
The noise from the toilet and galley isn't much of an issue for me but it's always better to sit in a smaller cabin.
I personally prefer a view out of the window so I would get two seats behind each other but then again, like I said, it's a matter of personal preference

I second the suggestion of the mini-cabin. Not noticed any noise there. I'm not really a middle seat person so even when travelling together we will select window seats.
The CX J seat is fantastic IMO, enjoy

I think will definitely change our 77W seats to the mini cabin, thanks for the recommendation.
As for the A330 do you think further down the back of the single J cabin or stay up at the front. I am just mindful of the toilets and gallery being up near the front.

CX tend to serve front to back on each aisle. I personally haven't encountered any noise from toilets or galley on the A330. My own personal preference is to sit near the front.

Thank you Princess Fiona, I have read many of your posts on different threads and you are always a wealth of knowledge
After initially being disappointed in not being able to get awards flights for our return on Qantas (thats another stressful story) I am really looking forward to the CX experience.

Thats definitely a positive and I have sat in many an exit row in Y with people milling around me.

It's a tough call. If you prefer the window I would generally take two seats behind each other. That way you get to control the cabin lighting to a certain degree (nothing worse than having your video screen blocked out by glare if you sit in the middle and can't do a thing about it).

The HKG-AU flights are fine for one-behind-the-other seats, but for 14 or 15 hours from New York, that might be a bit different. Of course people do it all the time (including couples) in First - but at least there you can sit with each other for meals (although that generally only tends to be one meal anyway).

Maybe mix it up? Couples seats for the long sector. Individual seats for the short one. I would avoid the mini cabin on the a330 flight from HKG to Australia.

Mrs 340 and I have done both middle and window seats in CX with the new J seats. If you are travelling during daylight hours then I'd go for contiguous window seats in the mini cabin if possible but with the main cabin a none too problematic 'downgrade'. We only did the middle seats on a last minute flight swap on an overnight HKGADL so we didn't need a view anyway. One of the best flights we had recently was an ADLMELHKG in the window seats with lovely service and gin and tonics A nice way to fly.

Thanks Mel_Traveller for your imput.
I have just changed all seats.
For the flight NYC to HK 77W, I could not get single seats one behind each other in the mini cabin for the longer flight, so chose the middle 2 but in the mini cabin so should be a quiet trip.
For the shorter HK to SYD I chose 12A/14A to satisfy my window desire.

I must have been posting at the same time, thanks for your input.
The longer first flight will be late afternoon and night time by US time so hopefully we will get some sleep.
And our Sydney flight lands at 9.40am so we may get some nice views coming in to Sydney.
Gin and tonics sound a nice way to fly
