CX HKG to YVR Award Availability

Today was looking for two or at least one on CX HKG/YVR return in Sept/Oct as a Classic Award, not one Y or PE and just couple one way in J and a few in 1st., its ridiculous. But I could find Y all the way return from CNS for $1720.

popular route unfortunately, asia miles/mpc gets first dibs on the seats which probably doesnt help either

try and avoid any dates that coincide with end of term/university holidays...

Need to go certain time in month want to visit friends in Calgary (have a new penthouse) spend a few days in Vancouver and then do annual trade show in HKG on return, looks like I'll be buying 2 Y on CX, we've had a few bump ups on CX past couple years or been allocated exit seats, might get lucky again.

I'll wait a bit, might be worth a shot to call QFF and see if they can do anything, although from what I read of late QF and CX are not the best of friends.

If an F award is available then AA miles may be the way to get there cheaply and in comfort.

I don't know if you have any AA miles but there is a fair bit of availability on CX/JL via NRT for 2 x J seats out mid Sep back mid Oct. Would also be able to use YVR as a stopover on the AA option and go onto MIA/JFK etc. for the same mileage cost.
With QF there are currently 2 x J seats HKG-LAX-YVR on the 16th Sep but LAX-YVR is in Y.

Have not 1 AA mile.

Pretty well fixed dates sorry to say need to depart HKG on or about 29th Sept, depart YVR about 11th Oct.

Prefer least amount of stops and like to miss USA entry if at all possible.

Currently have 250K QFF points.
