CX formally announced to the market today that they are in talks to acquire HK Express from HNA group. If it goes ahead will be good for HK in terms of having a 'proper' LCC under CX standards.

No announcement regarding Hong Kong Airlines however.

Should put an interesting spin on the VA tie up - if it goes ahead seems like Hong Kong Airlines will be wound up given the parlous state of their finances.

Interesting to note also that Hainan airlines was frozen by a Chinese court over unpaid leasing fees and almost defaulted this month
