I've got an upcoming QF OneWorld Award on which most flights are with CX. Travel is in J.

The final legs are JFK-HKG-ICN then ICN-HKG-SYD. Obviously, I'll be on the piece system from JFK however does the same system apply for the remaining legs to SYD or does it revert back to the weight system? I plan to do a bit of shopping in New York so the 2 x 32kg would be helpful on the way home.

We recently flew CX YVR-HKG , had stopover in Hong Kong and then HKG- DPS all in J. First sector the 2 piece system applied and from HKG-DPS allowance was back to 30kg. I imagine the same would apply to you if the ICN is a stop/stopover.

Thanks. I'd feared that... However CX say as it's a Qantas issued ticket they are showing 2 pieces for all 16 sectors on the reservation.

You should be fine. Just take a copy of baggage allowance rules. We were not on a RTW fare and had cx issued ticket - so likely reason for different allowance. BTW we absolutely loved CX J!! - enjoy!

Thanks :). I'm not too worried. I was pleasantly surprised the Sydney office emailed me back so quickly. 16 legs with 7 in CX J... Should be fun ;)

I was 6 kilos over in HK and nothing was mentioned.
