I remember a while ago people posting about some cheap intra-Asia J status runs on CX. I have to visit someone in SIN early in the new year and thought it might be worth picking up one of the sale fares to HKG and trying to build some SC's on CX.

Do these runs still exist? What are the better routes (and fares?)

I've done TPE-HKG-MNL return in J for under 500 aud...a nice little earner.

Jst need to pick up a classic award for HKG-TPE to start your first flight.

I have been considering doing one but haven't needed to yet. From my searching TPE-xHKG-MNL seems to be the best value for money. But anywhere starting from TPE seems to be good value as long as the you have to go through HK. While destinations that are served by CX direct flights from TPE, such as Tokyo, aren't good value.

Also note that the prices seem to be going up (about a third more of the total price) in the New Year, but they are still good value.

Earlier today I found TPE-xHKG-PER return (Feb 2012/August 2012) for just under AUD2200 in J. Very good value, I would have thought.

I vaguely remember someone once suggesting that BKK was good value too, not sure which routing - possibly HKG-BKK-SIN?

Hi all,

Am not sure if this is right place to ask. I have marcopolo gold and is going to book a J ticket with CX. I am thinking of using my marcopolo account to book the ticket in order for me to select seats. My question is whether I would be able to change back to QFF number on my booking just prior to my flight as I want the SC credit to my QFF. Thanks heaps in advance.

Shouldn't be a problem. You should be able to do this either at check-in or in the lounge. Be sure to keep a copy of the boarding pass showing your QFF details.

You dont need a marco polo number on your booking to select seats, can do that with a QFF number too.

Every now and then CX has promotions where SIN-BKK return in J would be around $600SGD ($500AUD).

You can do all that yourself online, and changes are instant. While I'm not sure of the need of doing so, feel free to experiment.

Ex TPE you get BKK for $580 return involving 4 segments, while TPE-MNL is $450, TPE-SIN or KUL is $615,
