Dannii Minogue in 'terrible' mid-air scare | News.com.au

This article just annoyed* me like nothing else. A “celebrity” had a slightly more bumpy landing than normal and the newspapers write something based on her absolutely no knowledge.

Even if she did have something to her credit like a PPL, she still couldn't have possibly seen any of the instruments in the coughpit.

* using that word as I expect the much stronger word I wanted to use will get me a temporary holiday from this site

a mid-air scare on a recent flight to Australia when the plane she was in could not land due to poor weather conditions.

That happens at most capital cities every day there’s fog at this time of the year!

I notice an airline is not named, though they surely would have known. Is this because:

  • They’re tired of bashing Qantas; or
  • It’s Virgin this time, and naming them wouldn’t fit in well with the bashing Qantas brigade?

A bit harsh on Dannii perhaps, given that it was "a friend" that was quoted.

That makes it even worse...

I'm not having a go at Dannii, I'm having a go at the newspapers who felt it was right to publish such stuff*.

Let me get this straight ..... a puss-weak global media organisation publishes a nothing story about a minor celebrity who had a go-around due to fog. So far so good and I personally couldn't give a toss because at this stage I am in blissful ignorance.

Then somebody* on this site decides to create a new thread with an ambiguous title which leads me and many other members to breathe life into something that should have been still-born.

Next time please think twice about pushing our noses into someone else's business - I'm already toilet trained to not bother with Rupert's so-called media empire.

(*I wanted to use a different description but I don't want another one of those personal messages from Admin)

I for one find it funny that it does not have a section at the bottom for comments. Normally a QF blocked toilet story has room for comments, even the nonsense comments about the QF planes are the un-safest in the world etc etc.

The article doesn't list the airline, but the list of possibilities wouldn't be too hard to find would it?

Someone reported a QF go around at CNS recently either here on FT, quite possibly the same one. Seemed pretty straightforward. While the report may be factual, it hardly seems necessary.

At little bit OT, had a go around coming into Sydney a few weeks back on QF.

Once we got back up the pilot came on, was really great calmed the nervous pax down, said there was a
spacing issue and that a Virgin aircraft was too slow taking off, said maybe they stalled the plane by mistake (jokingly) but it got some good laughs and calmed everyone down!

PS I love a go-around!! Had 2 now in total - bit of fun!!
