Hi all,

I booked Business Class tickets for Emirates via the Qantas website a week ago but i still havent received confirmation the transaction has gone through (I do have a booking number and the itinerary shows up on Qantas and Emirates websites). I spoke with Amex (who i purchased the tickets with) who said that once the merchant claims the charge it will be posted on my account. Is it normal for Qantas to take so long to process a ticket or is because it is for Emirates tickets?

The Emirates website says " Your tickets are not yet issued. Contact your agent to issue your tickets so that you can travel."

Thanks for any guidance.

Go into MMB and make sure your DOB is entered under APIS. That’s required for tickets to be issued (and CC to be charged).

I’m going to assume that you mean you booked a QF codeshare flight (QF flight number) that will actually be flown by Emirates planes. In this case, it will be issued as a Qantas ticket, with a Qantas ticket number (starts with 081 I think?) and it looks like QF have not yet issued the ticket. That is a bit unusual for a paid fare, although it does sometimes take a little longer for a ticket bought through an agent to appear - but I’m talking hours, not days. However as you have booked through Amex rather than directly with QF, you will need to talk to Amex to get this sorted out as QF will not usually talk to people who did not book directly with them. I would encourage you to call Amex and get it sorted asap.

or did you actually book direct on QF nd just pay with Amex?

If you booked directly on the QF web site and the suggestion above by @SYD does not work to solve your issue, then I encourage you to call QF asap and find out what the problem is because it is very important to get your tickets actually issued, as you clearly know.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi, sorry i wasn't very clear. I booked directly on the Qantas website with my Amex. Yes, it was an Emirates flight with a QF flight number. I logged into the booking and the dob's are all in there. I will just call them as i've never had this happen before.

Thanks for your advice.

So a bit of an update after 3 calls lasting a combined 120 minutes.

The booking has been made (I have the ref. numbers for both Emirates and Qantas with the flights showing up on their respective websites) however it hasnt been ticketed.

The issue was the points part of the points+pay with not all of the points debiting my FF account. The transaction from my Amex was fine but the rest of the booking was in limbo as it was waiting for the points to be transferred.

On the call today the operator processed the booking manually (as per what celsioraus stated) and said that it would be ticketed in the next 24 hours, not to worry and it's definitely sorted. I am certainly not holding my breath though and will wait until tomorrow to call them again! Will update as the saga continues! I almost booked directly through Emirates but thought the FF points and status credits were more valuable than the chauffeur, not sure this hassle has been worth it!

So as an aside
Do you need to include passport details before you book ?

Presumably also the booking needs to include the passport first, Middle and last name

A couple of us don’t have a current passport so need to get one from DFAT and I was concerned it might be prudent to get it before booking an EK QF codeshared Europe flight

No. Name and DOB are the minimum APIS. PP can be added later.

Hi all, thanks for everyone's advice and comments. After another 2 calls both lasting an hour i finally found someone who could help. Their system basically just broke when it tried to take my points out leaving some in my account and it just couldnt work out how to take the rest. If i didnt keep pestering Qantas the booking would have stayed in limbo and just not been ticketed. Ultimately they cancelled the payment and retook it again, this time it worked. Was really down to getting a lucky agent who actually did their job (or at least was the one person who knew how to fix it). Now i just have to wait until August to enjoy Business Class on Emirates!
