Delayed processing of upgrades QF12 - any theories?

We're booked in PE on QF12 LAX-SYD tomorow, Sunday 8th Sept. We have points upgrades waitlisted from PE to J using my partner (who is Platinum's) points, and although the flight is fairly wide open in business (see screengrabs) and the upgrade window for Plats opened more than 36 hours ago, our upgrades still haven't been processed (despite enough points in his account).

I tried calling the Contact Centre who basically told me nothing other than to repeat back to me the upgrade process and that they're not guaranteed etc etc, and to say that he couldn't see any problems - then again the agent did not strike me as very knowledgeable or capable.

Any theories re what might be going on? Anything else we should be doing to ensure the upgrade goes through?

The window is one thing. In practice I think platinum upgrade requests are generally processed 30 to 25 hours before boarding.

Had upgrades come through in recent months at T30, T29, T27, T26.

That's super helpful, thank you Cloud9 and flyingfan. My previous experience with queued upgrades based on my partner's Plat status has seen them come through within the first 12 hours of the official upgrade window opening (usually sometime between 8-10am SYD time for flights where the 72 hour window opened late the previous evening).

Based on that I was paranoid that something had gone wrong with the process but good to know that's probably not the case.

How did you go? I can see your flight leaves very soon...

Upgrades cleared at around T-28. Not much choice of seating given how empty the cabin had looked but very happy to be in biz 😅
Fantastic! I am kind of new here. Can someone explain the T-30, T-28, T-16 etc etc etc abbreviations? I have an idea what they mean, but not so sure!

Congrats 🥳

T-28 = Scheduled departure time minus 28 hours.

T-80 = as above, 80 hours before the flight departs (which is usually when QF unblocks preferred seats for non-status pax).
