Hi all,

My partner and I are scheduled to fly on SQ to SIN and HKG shortly in J and she's wondering about delaying the SC earn so that her review date lands later in the year.

If she gets the SCs credited at the time of trip completion she'll get to Platinum in January. If she can delay for a short period (but still well within Velocity's missing points/SC claim period) then some older SCs will expire and crediting these points will see her be able to take another flight at her leisure to get to Platinum.

Have any members attempted to game the system in this fashion before?

As always, many thanks to all who reply!

The only suggestion I have is to not credit all the travel to Velocity.

Just enough to ensure the WP status is not earned at that time.

An excellent suggestion. In this case, it's unfortunately not an option as the entire trip is on a single PNR, unless I'm blissfully wrong about that (and I'm very happy to be corrected here!).

I had a somewhat similar experience in reverse in 2014. A VX flight had not been credited when the flight was taken, leaving me at 460 SCs. The VX flight earned 40 SCs, however the next flight I took on DL earned 80 SCs.

This resulted in me achieving Gold but effectively wasting 40 SCs in my target of retaining Gold. It took 2 months of going back and forth to get VA to reorder the SC crediting to result in me hitting the "Retain Gold" target.

My hope was that similar system inadequacies would work in my partner's favour here.

This is generally simple enough - it does depend on the routing/carriers.

Just change the FF on check in for the segment you wish to divert - make sure the change shows on the boarding pass.

Then after the segments has been flown, change any remaining segments back.

Note that it is possible to have different FF numbers registered against different segments in the same booking - however some airlines discourage that practice and some agents don't know how to do it properly.

How about all points and SC to KF and then transfer them to VFF?
You do loose 35% in the transfer as its not 1 KF point :1 VFF point but SC should be same depending on subclass of J.

Since when have you been able to transfer SC'a between VFF and KF?
