I'm looking at BNE LAX MCO (Orlando), in Y+ (Premium Economy), with the first flight on Virgin.
This, unfortunately, downgrades us to Y (Economy) for the LAX MCO flight on Delta.
What booking class will this likely be on Delta ( I guess what booking class are Virgin Y bookings on Delta?), and will I be able to pay more to get Delta Comfort, maybe as a seat allocation choice or similar. Also, the booking class will affect earn, does it book into a decent delta class.

Thanks for any info or thoughts.

Brian

It should book into W for the DL segments which is comfort+.

Velocity earn for W class on DL can be surprisingly fruitful.;)

W on Delta is Comfort+.

If the OP is being downgraded to regular Y, then the class shouldn't be W.

Are these flights VA or DL flight numbers? If VA flight numbers, then the VA fare class will dictate earnings, not DL.

OK, so I am trying to book on Virgin, where it actually does have a VA number now I look. Doing as above on 9th Aug, it ends up as
VA7 (in Y+) VA6616 (in Y)
with a Aug 29th return of VA6616 (Y) and VA8 (Y+)

Also cnfusingly both the LAX MCO AND MCO LAX list as the same flight code?

I get that price on ITA with the VA/DL combo.

I would not be surprised if it is O and W class all the way and it's just the VA web site that is misleading.

I can see the fares (and class) you are after on Delta.com, but with DL codeshares.

Maybe use a TA? I see if ITA Userscript will work.

I am doing this exact flight Wednesday next week, so can let you know. I am hoping for Comfort+ on the Delta Leg. Although as a Gold Velocity I believe I am entitled to that anyway.

Alternatively if somebody can tell me where to find my booking code, I will tell you now.

@bjbrian I just received my seating allocations from Virgin and we are 22E and 22F both ways, which shows on SeatGuru as Comfort+
Fingers crossed that it is correct!

IIRC yes, Virgin Gold/Plat are seated in Comfort+ on Delta domestic flights, however earn rates are based on your ticket (which wouldn't be W). Basically it's a free upgrade from Economy to Comfort+.

I suggest you contact DL and get their booking reference for your travel.

You can then look it up on Delta.com and get the fare buckets.

I suspect the DL booking class will be W.

You should also be able to select seats.

Just got off this flight. Booking class was Y, we did receive a free upgrade to comfort plus. Even with the Delta booking number (which it gives you when you sign into the delta site using the VA number) you can’t choose comfort seas, but can pick standard seats. To get the upgrade we had to do it at the gate as it took ages to get through LAX security so by the time we got to the lounge, they no longer had control over the flight. Because we left it late we weren’t seated together and both had middle seats.

Same but different I guess.

As per prior posts, it's quite easy to book such travel that gives C+ (W) on DL flights.

Glad it worked out for you! I'm flying to JFK via LAX on the 29th and it's good to know they'll upgrade VA gold. Does your partner have status? Wondering if they give upgrade to two pax on the same booking if only 1 is Sky Priority.....?

No she is only red. I was prepared to pay for her upgrade as the rules do say only the gold pax is eligible.
