I booked a flight on delta PER-SYD-LAX-DFW. It was as discounted as I could make it.

My flights are mixed Virgin operator and Delta, the Fare basis for all the outbound flights is XLGWADWS and for the inbound flights XLGWADXS.

Im Virgin Gold and specified this buying the ticket. My e-ticket PDF shows 2 bags allowed, on all sectors, but when I log in to velocity, it shows I have 3 bags allowed inbound to Australia and to Perth. Any idea whats going on there?

I don't seem to have any way to upgrade any of my flights, except for the ability to request a free upgrade to Comfort+ Flying DFW-LAX-SYD. Any idea if comfort+ upgrades are any good with Delta? Is there any other way to wrangle upgrades on these tickets?

Are you on codeshares? If so then you may be SOL for upgrading

Your base luggage allowance for the first journey should be that for your entire trip.

Cheap fares rarely allow upgrades for free or with points. You can look for the UpgradeMe offer (cash upgrade bid), but sometimes it isn't available for codeshares.

As for the Comfort+ upgrades, do not request them unless you see seats available that you want on the seat map. You can get the free 'upgrade' and there are only middle seats left. And they won't reverse it.

I figured the cheap ticket would limit me severely. ($1300 return from Perth). Any chance of virgin doing the complimentary thing if I charm them at check in even on a Delta booked flight? Last time they put me in Economy+ just by asking if I could be bumped up on a standard Virgin flight back from LA.

Once you check in, the operating carrier has control and the fact it is a codeshare is less important. So on the Virgin operated flights your status should help at the airport and gate. Whether you can charm your way forward, well your results may vary.
