Evening All (well morning for most of you!!)

Am 95 status credits short for the year to level up my membership.

I am based in Vancouver, YVR.
I was hoping to do a quick trip on the weekend 5-6th of May (or 4th after work times).

For those with lot of experience traveling and earning am I best to get to LAX as cheap as possible on a seperate booking in economy, then do a quick business-class trip somewhere? Is discount business still classed as business where Qantas SCs are concerned?
I think Westjet from YVR to LAX my earn my SCs with AA booking number, but really not sure. Same applies for AS with an AA booking number. Didnt want to rely on those incase they didnt qualify for posting.
My last QF flight with AS posted 60 SCs because was booked Qantas J (equiv to AS F).

Anyone with advice would be great. Or someone that may have an itinerary they have done in the past?

I am pretty much restricted to that weekend as my wife is due to give birth to our first a fortnight later so I would rather be home hahah!! Never forgive me if I was off somewhere!!

As posted in your other thread, AA flight numbers earn as for AA irrespective of the operating carrier.

You could try this tool:

http://matrix.itasoftware.com/cvg/dispatch/

use AA+ /f ~bc=Q in the "Advance Routing Codes" to have AA flights only but not in non QFF earning Q class.

Note discount Y zones (e.g. N class) - 0-600 miles = 10 SC, 601-1200 = 15 SC, 1201-2400 = 20 SC.

For example you could route to NYC via DFW and MIA for CAD390

Hi serfty (or others), Sorry to labour the point, but can I please confirm that if I book a Westjet flight through the AA website, then that too will earn QF status credits? Because all this time I've been avoiding westjet flights when perhaps I didn't need to. I too am based in Van. Trying to figure out best way to do my US trips coming up soon.

Thanks

Hey Mate,

Yes, aslong as the Flight has an AA flight number (and you have given AA your QFF Number) then you will earn status credits and points...aslong as not in Q class.
I recently did a YVR-LAS flight on Westjet and they were superb. On way back I did F on AA metal LAS-LAX and it was average, then F on AS metal and was good.

Both Westjet and Alaska Airlines are great to fly with. I just book them via the AA website.
Let me know if need anymore info!

Cheers

Thanks for the quick reply. Great to know. For some reason I didn't think you'd get SC on Westjet and thus them typify avoided them. I need to go to Portland in 2 weeks and to Montreal in June. I know that Westjet flies there direct but I'm having trouble finding them on the AA site. Am I doing something stupid or are these flights just not code-shared?

Thanks again.

They are there...just had a quick look...not sure on your budget though as cheapest I found in June was $540.
Due to it being AA, you will have to go via the US of A.
Depending on your time, you can do a decent multicity (however I havent check out on MM how many SCs you would get for it). Though the minimum you would earn for discount economy is 50SCs. Just make sure your booking class isnt Q.

The way I got the flights to show was on the booking page, enter all my details, then across from 'Find Flights' I clicked the 'More Flight Search Options' then down the bottom for 'Choose Carrier', check the Oneworld option.
I always check that as habit, but I am not 100% sure if it makes a difference.

Hope helps.
