Hi all

I have tried to find a concise answer to this but there is conflicting information on various websites so I thought I would put it to my friends here.

Husband is currently WP but his review date is 15 August and he will most likely drop to SG on this date.

We have managed to secure four Y reward flights SYD-LAX on 3 October and plan to be at T1 in Sydney around 8am for VA1.

I am Red and so are our two boys aged 15 and 13. I know we can access a Lounge prior to both flights, but I cannot seem to confirm which Lounges we are entitled to. So my questions are:

1) Which Lounge should we approach for access from both Sydney and LAX? For ex Sydney, Virgin now says Etihad but Etihad says ANZ and ANZ says nothing. For ex LAX it was *A but now understand it is Delta SkyClub in T2....

2) Can we pay for access for our boys (15 yr old is disabled and will not be eating or drinking but we are happy to pay for him).

3) If we don't receive a new Gold Velocity card before we fly, does he just present his out of date Platinum card and assume it will gain us access?

Thanks in advance.

VA will have moved in with DL by then at LAX (T2 and T3), so probably a new DL Sky Club. I doubt that you will get 3 guests in though.

You will get one guest with Gold. There tends to be no leniency with partners either. VA usually allow kids in plus adult guest in their own domestic lounges. Check dates closer on lounge access page, someone may be able to guest. I quite often guest people into lounges who wouldn't otherwise have access.

Yes I am aware that we will only get one guest in, but does anyone know which lounge we go to at Sydney? And is it possible to pay for our boys?

Thanks

C

In Sydney, it's the Etihad lounge when flying to LA. No option to pay for entry there.

If you have the right AMEX card you may also have access to the AMEX lounge.

The Eithad lounge is small and in my limited experience, they strictly protect numbers and are unlikely to allow more than 2 in. Option is to find a nice eatery and spend the time there. Lounges are nothing worth going too far out of your way about (IMHO).

OP can also see if anyone is prepared to guest her/the kids in via the Meet me in the Lounge threads.
