On 22 Feb 2012 I will be returning from DFW on QF8. Originally, my partner and I were lucky enough to be automatically assigned to PE thanks to my WP which was a great surprise. Today, I visited the Qantas site to find that as a result of a plane change, my partner and I will no longer be in PE :( . I know I was lucky to get these seats in the first place, but it would have been nice if they kept us in PE.

Has this happened to many of you before?

I doubt I will get a OP upgrade in DFW as I'm guessing they will have the usual cranky AA staff checking in the QF pax.

Also, is there anyway to tell if this is one of the newly refitted B747s?

Cheers all!

Had a look and it is a refitted aircraft. If you have the time and if it possible ticket wise to change you could travel on the 23rd which still shows the old fit-out.

So I guess it is time to watch seats closely for future trips to DFW?

I am doing a JASA on 25 March SYD-DFW and it is showing a four class plane (with me in an F seat :D). However, if this changes I would be grabbing an upstairs exit row very quickly.

Create a seat alert for 8E, if it comes through you know you have got a sub!

Just booked a return trip to Dallas - checked expert flyer 30 minutes ago to make sure I was not on a refurb both ways on the dates I wanted (so I can get the PE seats)...

Booked the flights and went to seat selection. When it came to the flight home noticed the seat map was on a refurb plane so I checked expert flyer again and sure enough it showed the refurb seat map. Nasty.

One of the improvements that QF could do is to show "available seats" prior to confirming the booking. AA do this, it's on Expert Flyer, so why can't it be on the QF website? However, they won't do it (unless pushed by AFF's). Was this improvement was ever brought up at the day when QF invited certain people to lunch.

Qantas have seemed to adhere to the "Mushroom Principle" in relation to making bookings online.

It's even a PITA to get the actual fare buckets for each segment before confirming a booking. (http://www.australianfrequentflyer....rogram/qf-booking-class-22124.html#post530186)
