A good way to upgrade to diamond is to ask diamond at hilton dot com (sorry had to get around the posting rules)

DIAMOND CHALLENGE

Just got an email back from them saying stay 21 nights before 28th august to earn diamond ( only have 6 nights stay up until this point YTD)

Certainly beats trying to get diamond the normal way!!

Planning a few trips so shouldn't be too hard.

Give it a try.

Are you Gold already? If you don't think you'll make that (and to be honest I thought it was less for a DC)...the Gold challenge is far less nights

Diamond can be earned normally from 28 Stays or 60 nights (or USD10K nett spend). For me total stays is ~90% of total nights, so not much of a challenge from my perspective.

Having posted that, for those who regularly stay for 4 consecutive nights or more, this would be a good deal.

Is it the case that HH (like most...if not all?? loyalty challenges) are likely to only occur once per membership life?

Dunno, it does vary. At least one AFF member I know received HHonors diamond via a seven stay challenge within the last two years.

Care to elaborate?

I have Diamond until March 2013 and only have 2 stays/2 nights this year. I am planning to have another 4 stays/4 nights in July and possibly 4 stays/4 nights in September/October.

Any chance I can earn any decent status out of it? It does not bother me too much but the girlfriend loves the complimentary breakfasts.

Email I got from Hilton today after I emailed them yesterday

I have reviewed your account and if within the next 90 days, from today's date, you record 21 eligible nights at any participating HHonors hotels, your account will be automatically upgraded to the Diamond tier status through March 31, 2014.

This challenge can be met within 6 stays at 4 nights per stay; normally it would require up to 15 stays.
Totally out of my reach and budget.

Need to see if I can somehow earn Gold status but that is not looking too good at the moment without some sort of challenge.

Yes, but can you go for the MVP gold if you are already gold or diamond? I think this is a problem.

Yes you can. When my first HH Gold expired I successfully registered for the MVP challenge (call to confirm first) and achieved HH Gold after 4 stays.

Thats interesting, and really good to know. Of note though, your Gold had already expired, so you went 4 stays as a 'pleb' (big smile) before being gold again.

*bump*

Is anyone aware if the Diamond challenge has changed now that the standard Diamond qualification has gone up to 30 stays/60 nights?

Shoot them an email and find out...I can only assume the rules would be changing for that too. Let us know if you hear anything!

Well I sent off an email to enquire as to what the challenge would be, and this is the reply:

Dear Ms. JessicaTam,
Thank you for your inquiry regarding a Fast Track challenge. We appreciate you taking the time to contact us.

Should you be at a higher level of membership with one of our hotel competitors, please reply with a copy of your 2012 end of year activity with that competitor along with your HHonors number and we will review your HHonors account for a potential fast track offer.

You may also mail or fax documentation to the address or fax number listed below:
...

So not much of an answer as I was only after information, yet they took it as a request for a challenge.

Hmmm.
