I was discussing point earning cards with a colleague, who had a CBA Platinum (which was points capped BTW).

I was looking at their website and CBA's top of the line card was actually Diamond.

You see, Platinum just doesn't cut it anymore. I remember when Gold was the beast card. Gold is worthless. It's like "you've got the Gold Card? You must be a student"

Whats next? The Titanium card? Or maybe the Uranium Card (it glows in the dark)

:D

It became clear to me that the whole thing is a joke when my $89/year Woolworths card came with "platinum" written on it in small letters. (It's actually orange/red. Ripped off. :) )

Oh, so it's a World MasterCard

Actually, this is not that new.

There are 2 more cards above platinum level in MasterCard scheme, and 1 more card above platinum in Visa scheme.

Visa Signature have been around for a few years, so does World MasterCard. World Elite is quite new though.

It's just Australian banks haven't been offering them.

ISTR some merchants charge higher commissions for "platinum" cards, so no doubt there's a financial incentive to move customers across to platinum.

The "kryptonite" card. Super credit card, super special person, AFF branded of course
