Partner just became silver (at the old rate mind you) and now his seat selection is now worse then when we just had a Qantas club membership.

Did they change frequent flyer seat selection with the new "features" make the seat selection worse ?

It's not worse, it's an enhancement!

There used to be no difference b/w QP and PS (mrsdoc and I always got the same seat maps).

Cant help by looking now i'm Gold. Sorry.

QP membership doesn’t give seat selection though?

What you’re comparing inaccurately to is the standard seats you’d get as a PS anytime up to T-80, and then T-24 which is OLCI.

Whereas in the past as an NB you didn’t get advance seat selection, so weren’t allocated seats until things start to open up more at T-80 and then T-24/OLCI.

So you can now select seats early, but they wont be amazing, at a certain point more will open up though, and then at T-24 you can check every hour to get the best seats available.

*Note some of what I have said may be inaccurate and I’m sure Serfty will correct me, but the general idea is correct.

I don't think that even at T-80 NB would be able to select better seats, as they don't have the seat selection option..? I'd imagine their best chance is to OLCI at T-24 and then check every hour from then.

I threw T-80 in as I’d assume that’s when the rest are allocated, like NB’s, but not sure. At T-80 though a PS might see more, I can’t recall what I’ve read, but needless to say the big picture is that he’s not seeing worse seats, he’s just seeing certain seats for pre-selection, he’ll probably get better closer to the date/time.

Yeh, PS definitely sees more (am speaking from experience here ;))
