Hell all A.F.F's
At the moment i am pricing airfares for my family in Cairns to Travel to U.S.A. The current prices from the Air New Zealnd Website are as follows=
Economy
CNS.<>SFO= $1681.00
PER.<>SFO= $1667.00
Business
CNS.<>SFO=$7051.00
PER.<>SFO=$7512.00
As you see the two prices are opposite,is this due to different landindg etc prices?is there any other resonable explanation?Does not make sense to either myself or family.
Thanks
Terry.

It prob has a lot to do with the CNS-AKL leg vs the PER-AKL leg. Depends on the number of fares available from a specific fare bucket. It also has to do with the number of seats available on the flight, and that PER-AKL is treated as a proper international flight by AirNZ, but anything east coast AU is treated as short haul international, so different fare rules.

Also check which flights these are on. I've noticed airnz website likes to offer virgin flights fairly regularly. From per it could end up being 3 hops.

So the confusion comes from Y being dearer from one port, yet J is dearer from the other port.
Unfortunately, you need a degree in airfares to understand why these are the way they are.
Sometimes market forces dictate prices, other times the logic of the airline prevails.

I wouldn't try too hard to figure it out, as you will be trying for a while.
