Hi All,

First time post having just joined...
Is it possible to book different class seats by segment? Planning trip to Paris (Singapore Airlines) and was thinking SYD-SIN economy A380 (top level) then SIN-CDG premium economy B777-300.

Appears this cannot be done via Singapore Airlines website but wondering if I need to actually call them? Has anyone done this before?
Also if I booked economy all segments can I upgrade segments using points? I would perhaps try and upgrade the SIN-CDG segment to premium economy.

Last time I went to Europe I went economy (top level) A380 to SIN and then to FCO economy in 777-300. Found the A380 economy was fine but the B777 economy was really bad!

Thanks for any help
Todd

Yes that will be possible to book by calling. However, you will have to pay for the higher class for the whole itinerary.

Sorry, but I can’t help with upgrade info.

Is that for booking a reward seat or revenue? I thought using KF Miles, you pay for the highest class of travel in the entire itinerary, but I don't think this is applicable if flying on revenue/commercial ticket? I presume you have assumed OP was asking about a reward seat, but I thought I clarify the distinction.

Sorry, I did think OP was asking About miles. I can’t comment on cash fares.

By top level Economy on the A380, do you mean upper deck?

I don't think SQ still has an upper-deck economy cabin on the refurbished A380s being used on the SYD-SIN route.

Yes upper deck...should know the terminology

That was going to be my next task in finding out if they still operate that A380 type. Is there anyway to determine this based on flight no. Possible to find the registration of the plane.

If none of their A380's have upper deck economy then I will upgrade all segments via points.

Cheers

EDIT: Came across an article dated Feb 2021 that seem to confirm that there will be no economy seats on upper level...

Sorry can I ask another silly question...in order to upgrade from economy to PE (assuming tickets already purchased direct with Singapore Airlines) is the only method to use Krisflyer Miles?, meaning that the upgrade cannot be done with Velocity points?

The way I understand it is I would need to transfer Velocity points to Krisflyer in order to 'pay' for the upgrade?

I will look at PE full rewards using Velocity when they allow it in a few months time according to Velocity statement.

Cheers
