Hi,

I'm new to this sight so I apologise if this question is unusual.

I have booked a last minute flight on classic rewards this thursday to fly to LA from Sydney to be with my fiance for a short period.
I booked the seat on a whim and was planning to stay until the 6th of July so as to attend a close friend's wedding on the 4th of July of all dates?.. Americans..

Anyway, it appears the only date now available for classic rewards is that date, the 4th... and otherwise the flight on the 6th back to Sydney is 145,000 points... not really a great option as opposed to 48,000.

So.. my desperate question is- should I take the 4th of July flight, and then try change it with some serious charm and see if they'll push me to the 6th? For those that may have some experience in this field, is this possible? Or will I have to wait for the next allocated classic award flight date?? If so.. I definitely dont' want to do that.

Are there any other options that anyone knows of for this type of situation?

If so, I would REALLY truly appreciate any help.. I'm a bit stuck.

Cheers

Nick

The flight on the 6th is an any seat award for 145000 points. I assume that you don't have the cash required to reduce the points cost. This can be reduced to 48000 points and USD810. I can see a business seat on 5th July for 96000 points. I guess that these aren't options.

The flight i see on 4 july is at almost midnight. That should give you a bit of time to enjoy the wedding but perhaps not the after wedding goings on.

You could buy a return LAX to SYD with the return booked to use later, like next year. Assuming your fiance lives there. That's about USD1000. I didn't check other airlines that might be cheaper.
