I'm sure someone can help me with this. When I'm in New York I know I can can get discount theatre tickets through www.playbill.com and www.theatermania.com (better than TKTS booth - same price and you get to choose your seats in advance!).
I'm off to London in November and want to catch some shows (Sister Act & La Cage Aux Folles). Does anyone know of a good site to book discount tickets in advance?

I don't know of in advance, but for on the day I have found this when researching for my trip to Europe (which includes London) in November: What's On Sale Today at tkts | The Official London Theatre Guide (cheap tickets, to be bought on the day) centre of Leicester Sq

Thanks, might be the best thing to do - it will be cold then so sales might be slow. Chances of getting a reasonable seat might be better.

yeah.. there is no actual site to buy discount west end theater tickets... there is a ticket booth in the middle of Leicester square... ( don't be fooled by the numerous "discount tickets" shops that are seen left right and center around Leicester square) there is a booth built on its own just near Leicester square park that is the original and authentic " same day discount tickets booth" . Ive been a few times, the lines are never as bad as NYC times square tkts booth!

Good luck :)

I would have thought it would be the other way around! Cold weather = lots more people taking advantage of indoor entertainment...

I pre-purchased tickets as part of an London accom & show package from Prowse (London theatre tickets, Disney on Broadway, Disneyland attraction tickets, Concerts, Sport, Sightseeing and Tours | Keith Prowse Australia). Ended up with front row seats to Phantom. That was great.

Also, I've purchased tickets standby on the ground in London which is what I would do just to get out and about. Remember that buying standby no guarantee of the show you want to see.

One memorable standby ticket purchase had me at the back behind a pole.

If you must see a show on a particular date then in my experience - pre-book. If you are flexible then go standby and prepare to broaden your theatre experiences. (not to say they aren't already broad).

Also London issue of the magazine TNT used to have deals. TNT Magazine - Travel guides, jobs, flats, what's on in London - TNT Online

I have a 2-for-1 voucher for certain Broadway shows - including Sister Act.

Some quick checks showed prices around £30-£32 per ticket.

However, the dates for validity only seem to go up to late October. Is Sister Act still playing in November?

Are you still looking for discount "Sister Act" tickets?

I recall your post a few days ago about leaving T5, so not sure if you're intending to come back to the UK and see a show, or already have.

I have a few different 2-for-1 type theatre deals on certain shows (Sister Act is one) that are still valid... and the price is less than TKTS etc will offer.

If you're interested, let me know via PM and I'll let you know the details.
