Do Finnair Provide PJs on overnight trans-Atlantic Flights? Am flying HEL-JFK in J, wondering if AY will provide PJs or I need to pack my QF ones in my carry-on?

Unfortunately, AY have never (well not in the last 15? odd years) had PJs. In fact, they reduced their amenities entirely under an environmental waste reduction drive - read probably cost reduction Greenwash.

For a time, the amenities kits were literally in a recycled brown paper bag but they’ve returned to something a bit more usual…

It does seem like AY aren't really full service in some respects; noting that many of their J seats now do not come with checked luggage (unless you have OW status).

Only in some markets but there is the option to pay more for their regular J fare (but otherwise good value for status PAX)!

Once on board, no distinguishing marks or features for those on the cheap fares!

QR is also offering “unbundled” J fares with no lounge access - which is more problematic since even OW status would be denied entry to the QR “Premium Lounges”. You should still get access to a OW lounge (including those lounges in DOH).

I have no interest in QR lounges (i will not travel via the ME, prefer my travel without an internal pelvic exam) , but would expect to have access to a J lounge in Dublin before boarding an AY flight to Helsinki (assume it would be a BA lounge as a one world airline) and then a minimum of a J lounge in HEL (possibly better as I will be platinum by then).

I cant imagine flying around the world across hot/cold environments in J with only a carry-on. I expect checked luggage and lounge access on a J fare. And people like to QF bash but at least they give you PJs and lounge access on J overnight flights.

Yep, just using QR as an example.

AY is actually generally pretty good and HEL is a great transit point. The OWE lounge is very good - although haven’t been back since the terminal renovation was completed.

RE PJs in J, they’re actually not that common. Most of the other airlines peeps rave about here do not provide them in J. Not sure how exhaustive this is but probably close.

Looks like at DUB would only have access to Dublin Airport Executive Lounge,

And in HEL a choice between the Finnair Business Lounge and Platinum Wing (as Emerald).

PJs are not a deal breaker just a nice touch, but to me luggage and lounge access is a deal breaker. Wouldn't book a long-haul J fare without lounge access and luggage (outright or via status)

If you are Platinum by then use the Plat Wing.
It’s a far superior lounge to the AY Business lounge including a la carte dining.

In 2017 the Dublin lounge used by AY was very basic but at least the staff were very friendly.
