Do points upgrades from flexi still earn SC's?

Sorry I know this has been discussed on here before, I believe it was a thread about do you earn SC's at the upgraded level.. Just can't find it again and want to confirm that I'm not crazy & didn't imagine it.

I've gota few flexi's booked and I'm getting awful close to the 1k SC's to get from gold to plat. If I do an upgrade using points from flexi > Business, does that flight still earn me my flexi SC's?

Not expecting to get business SC's, just don't want to end up with a "not valid for earn" and not hitting 1k SC's.

Officially speaking, you earn SCs based on your original fare.

You will definitely earn as per the ticket you originally booked & paid for - ie a flexi fare.

And maybe a little bit more...

Really? My upgrades after the promo ended in June have earned at Flexi rates.

"Members travelling on Upgraded fares purchased with Points or any other subsidised means of Upgrades on Virgin Australia or our partner airlines will earn Status Credits based on originally purchased fare classes."


edit to add: so you have been very very lucky, and possibly there was a glitch and maybe it's not something to brag about?

Awesome! thanks for all the replies everyone, completely answered my question. Happy to earn at flexi rate, just didn't want to miss out on the SC's at all. Edit: Just for clarification - I only wanted to earn at the flexi rate, I just know from a past experience when I paid for a seat with points it didn't earn so I was wondering about upgrades.


Another silly question if anyone checks this thread.. My review date is coming up soon & I've got more than enough SC's to renew gold but not 1,000 for plat yet. The credits I have at review don't instantly expire all at the same time do they, its based on 12 months? (ie, if I'm at 900 now & do a trip getting me to 980 a week before my "review date", the day after my review date it wont go back to 0 will it?)
Edit: Just called and checked with VA and they told me its 12 month expiry from SC earn date, review date is purely to see if I re-qualify.. Based on that understanding, happy for this thread to be nuked from orbit. Thanks everyone.
