i flew syd to per and there were noise cancelling headphones in J class....cheapen version of the silver one....its only 2 pin, not the 3 pin type

When I flew PER-SYD and then MEL-PER in J in the 330 (including MEL-SYD in the latest addition to the dom QF A330 fleet) in mid Jan they were handing out normal (ie not NC) headphones.

Well if they are like the black T-T version then they are not (active) noise-"Cancelling"; they would be noise-"Deadening" with an ear-muff type blocking of external sound

How can you tell? Quite simply. Whilst wearing them, turn the volume of the program right down so you cannot hear it; then unplug them (keeping them on), wait a second, then plug them back in. There would be no change in perceived sound.

If they were noise cancelling, unplugging would remove power and the "white noise" would increase.
