IIRC, QC lifetime membership is no longer available, however, is Lifetime Gold still awarded??

I believe that dot recently achieved LTG, so evidence is there that it still exists. It is still noted on the QF website too.

For how long it exists is another question.....

Definitely still exists at the moment. 14,000SC's.

Cheers,
- Febs.

Lifetime Gold definitely exists. I achieved it last year, at which point, the lifetime SC point tracker vanished from my profile.

Yep, still exists.

Related to a CL and LG FF. Comes in handy at times........:)

As others have already said - it does still exist - I got it on my flight to the FT AGM in Sydney last month - and recieved the (paper) letter from Qantas about 10 days later...

If one is only 390 SC away, and won't make that by the end of March, but have committed flights in May that would cover the SC's could they potentially award life gold in advance, or are they pretty strict with it?

Given it doesn't really have a time limit (that we know of!) I'd say your chances would be between zero and buckley's. :)

If you have flights in May, they'd suggest you just wait til then. FWIW, I don't think there'll be changes introduced before May (none that would affect LTG anyway), so you should be right!

Congrats in advance. :) Here's me being proud of almost 50% LTS. (Mind you that's in about 2 years :)).

Cheers,
- Febs.

Thanks, and I could only wish... the question is actually for the bosses wife!!! (trying to score brownie points with my wealth of knowledge)

You would be right, she is thinking that she needs to reach it by the end of her renewal period not realising of course that SC do not expire.... Is that correct?

SCs do expire at the end of each membership year, but only for the purposes of assessing status for that year. For the purposes of lifetime status and loyalty bonuses they do not.

Can any of those LTSs or LTGs out there explain how it works for me? For example, you need to achieve 600 SCs each year to keep gold status; if you reach LTS do you still need 600 SCs to keep gold or do you get a "head start" at the beginning of each year (say, start off with 300SCs and only need another 300 to reach gold)?

Welcome Jacques!

Sorry, didn't read your question properly, so the answer is as Optics says.

Attaining LTS has no effect on how many SCs you need in a membership year to attain SG (gold status) or WP (platinum status). Equally, attaining LTG has no effect on how many SCs you need in a membership year to attain WP. SCs do not expire, but the number you accrue in each membership year is tracked to determine your status for the following year. Your lifetime quota of SCs just keeps increasing, regardless of membership years.

Welcome to AFF Jacques, once you have LTS or LTG status, you do not get a jump start on SG or WP status respectively. If you fall back to your lifetime status, and have more than one year with earnings below the next step up, you will need to re-qualify for the next level up (700 and 1400 SC respectively) - once you have achieved that status, to maintain you will only need 600 and 1200 SC respectively - just like everyone else...
