I am a Gold VA member, however work as booked me into a Qantas flight (yeah, I tried to get around it).
Does that mean I'm unable to use the VA lounge in Sydney?

Cheers

Unsure about Gold but I think for Platinum you just need to find yourself a random punter with a VA boarding pass. Make them your lounge buddy and in you go. The joys of anytime access ended a while back, sadly.

Don't forget most QF flights are from T3 and not T2 where VA are.. would mean a terminal swap..

Do you think that works for Gold as well?

And yes anytime access was nice while it lasted.

Thank you all for your replies.
I managed to convince them to book via Virgin for my next trip :)
btw, does anyone know whether the lifetime membership to the lounge gives anytime access?

The member needs to be travelling, the guests do not so it wouldn't work that way unfortunately.

There have been a number of reports in the past couple of months where a Platinum (not sure about Gold) not travelling and a non-status family member/friend travelling have been allowed use of the lounge.

Again I do not think this is official policy but possibly allowed by lounge staff on request.

If it was anytime access with use of their global lounges it would make it more compelling to pay the $10K. As it stands, very poor value.
Does any airline offer anytime access?

Myself and partner are flying out from Sydney to Adelaide on morning of 30th. December ...

I'm not a Member of Velocity Lounge.

How might the two of us gain access to the Lounge on this occasion ? ( preferably without having to pay any fees )

Are established Members ( Elite class ? ) able to 'guest' a visitor ... hopefully two ??

... and if so, is anybody here willing to do this for myself and partner ?? ( I would be most grateful )

For free entry, you'd have be flying in J or be either Gold or Plat with Virgin. If you aren't, it's $65/person if you can't get someone to guest you.

For guesting, check http://www.australianfrequentflyer.com.au/community/december-2013/december-2013-a-52373-4.html. It wouldn't hurt to put a post there now to see what happens - put your flight number & ETA into the lounge there.

On the day, also check the "I'm in the VA lounge" if you haven't made arrangements beforehand. http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ia-velocity/im-in-va-lounge-thread-40689.html. If you do make it into the lounge, don't forget to post on that thread & let people know you're there!

You never know when someone might be there, even if they aren't going where you are.
