Does Requesting Upgrade on a Second Leg Reset the Request Date?

Somewhat related to this question:

I have a booking SYD-MEL-HKG where I requested an upgrade for the MEL-HKG and HKG-MEL legs, but not for the domestic legs.
I was going to upgrade the domestic legs now too, but have the following concerns:

1. Will upgrading the domestic part reset the request date on my international leg to the current date? I requested this months ago and the last thing I want is to get pushed to the back of the queue again.
2. Conversely, could the fact that I haven't upgraded the domestic legs negatively affect my chances to get the international upgrade?

I'm very pessimistic about my chances. I've had several requests over the past 12 months without much success. Considering that I can't get upgrades as a WP, it looks like QF are severely restricting Classic Upgrades, or possibly stopped them altogether.

1. No. The requests are independent of each other. The date of request is only used as a tie breaker within the class you've booked so the majority of the time it's not even looked at. Someone booked in a higher class than you, of equal status, will have higher priority to clear. Eg. someone booked in K class will clear before someone booked in S class.

I did end up getting this upgrade, a pleasant surprise. In fact I was even upgraded on the domestic leg without even asking for it.
I'm positively impressed for a change.
Now let's see what happens on the return flight.

Full marks to Qantas. Hopefully it's a positive sign for the future.
