Why does SA have the least amount of flights available for J Saver redemptions? It just seeems impossible to get a flight even a few months out, and is impossible to get an A380 or 777-ER Melbourne-Singapore. If I'm flying in June, am I likley to see J savers appear again as the date draws nearer, or is it as of now.... WYSIWYG?

That's because currently (except if a few exceptional circumstances) they do not allow J savers on aircraft with the (not so) "new" longhaul product. That policy is changing as of 1 March (for travel from 1 April), along with some increases in miles required for these type of saver awards, so you should see some more availability from then.

Oh yes shocking availability of J Savers - I was due to fly PEK-SIN-MEL today leaving PEK at 08:25 arriving back into MEL at 07:50 tomorrow.

BUT

SOS from office on Saturday saw me onto SQ website to check availability of J Savers on Sun 26 - no problemo - J Saver available dep PEK 16:40 (perfect time - I can get plastered Sat night - sleep all morn - still catch the flt) connecting to SQ237 dep SIN 00:45 on 27th arrive MEL 11:20.

Cost to amend original booking on 28th back to 26th dep - ZERO pts and ZERO $$'s - try doing that on QF or CX or whoever - IMHO SQ have fabulous availability and it should get better post April 1.

Hmmmm.... I thought the new A380 rules for Savers were already in. I'm not sure if the availability kicks in from March 1 or March 8.

From SQ announcement:
We will also be enhancing our seat award redemption offerings. Currently Saver Award is only available for selected First and Business Class flights. With this improvement, you will be able to redeem Saver Award for First and Business Class on most flights, including First and Business Class on our B777-300ER flights; and Business Class on our A380 and A340-500 flights. This will be available for redemption bookings from 8 March 2012, for flights departing 1 April 2012 onwards.

Dajops says March 8 in his post. I'll have to investigate further.
