Hi all,

Not sure if this is the right forum, but hey here goes.

I'm going to be in Vietnam with my folks in June, looking to do a little domestic hopping internally rather than the long trains/buses, though I'm still researching.

Vietnam Airlines seemed to be very exxy for flights a fair way out (~$250/leg when I looked); Jetstar Pacific has flights for about AU$85. However, I can't see any availability past 31/May of this year. (It was the same back in December, no availability past the end of May).

Is there something going on (e.g. downsizing or decommissioning?) that I should know about? Jetstar contact centre told me that they'd release more in March, so I'll check later in the week and give that a look-in.

Appreciate any thoughts...

It's been a while since I was looking at flights in Vietnam but from memory Jetstar only ever had 3 months of flights loaded. Incidentally Vietnam airlines do have some great sales, I'd suggest you keep watching at least until Jetstar sales are available, we ended up flying with them same price or cheaper than Jetstar.

Thanks for that.
I'll keep an eye out for both. At the prices I had before, VN Y was only about $100 less than J (with at least one flight on a 787) - part way appealing, but for about half the money Jetstar earning a few QF SCs could also be alright.

If it's for just a short hop, VietJet Air might be an acceptable alternative as well. They have a fleet of A320/321 and have now grown to flying international flights regionally, and include destinations as far as ICN and SIN.
