I'm done!!

I attempted to change an award flight today for an overseas trip leaving Friday. "No dramas Mr Burns - just have get a family memeber to transfer the points you need and I'll send you new intinerary"

7 hours later or 10 mins ago I call to enquire why my new intinerary hadn't come through.

"oh sorry Mr Burns - has noone told you that there's a shortfall on points?"

No - that's why I'm calling

"nothing I can do tonigt - head office opens at 8.30am and they might sort it out for you"

Now I'm worried that I won't be able to travel given by the time I call it be less than 24 hours before departure and I don't have enough points to cover the shortfall

any experinec with this?

So, presumably you have an award booking that you wish to change.

However, to change this award booking you need more points than you have to pay the 'change fee'.

So you are arranging for a family member to transfer some points to you.

Now, I conject that this has been done, but the points have not yet arrived.

If so, this is strange as Family transfers in my experience have generally been almost instantaneous.

Did you get the points transferred initially?

i called first - bloke said transfer 10,000 points and you'll have enough to make change - I transferred then called back and he said it was all done and he'll send thru new intinerary.

Did the second caller tell you how short you were? Perhaps she got her info wrong?

Have you checked your booking online?

points had transferred and are still sitting in my account - the "platinum" customer service guy has made an error and told me the wrong amount of points needed to make the change and it to me to call back tonight to find this out. Apparently head office need to deal with it however by the time they open it'll be less than 24 hours before I fly??

Oh Dear; seems like there's been a large mistake.

What does your booking show online? How big was the change you were after?

Booking is showing all flights as confirmed - apparently a 10,000 point short fall.

might have he luxury of going into a points deficit?

All I can say is it seems things are not as bad.

Other than that all I can post is good luck ...
