Hervey Bay to Sydney
$155 flight = 23900 points (lowest economy tier)
No business available for any day to purchase directly or with points, despite being E90 and 737? Hard to believe the next months are booked solid... unless Virgin have some all economy planes I haven't seen before.
=========
Brisbane to Adelaide
$169 = economy = 23900 points
$879 = business = 27100 points
Or $169 + 17500 in upgrade points = business
So it seems that buying a business reward seat directly is MILES cheaper than using points for economy.
Economy => Business upgrade points seem quite poor value too, although maybe you can get seats using that you couldn't buy directly?
Just checking this is right, I've read that points are best spent on upgrades but this seems ridiculously skewed.
Also checking if anyone knows about HVB->SYD as seems weird no business on that. Though it's a cough of a route at 601 miles, have to pay the 2nd tier rate for a short flight.
