Double Dipping QF and AA

You were very lucky and you should keep that to yourself.

Except to note that next time you should credit non QF earning AA flights to your AA account

Surely bragging about such a thing would be a little dangerous. ...

Cool that you’ve done it and good luck while you still can.

If AA do twig that you have done something illegal their usual response is to close your account forfeiting all your points.

Is it considered to be double-dipping if you put your AA number in the booking, but when you discover it is a non-earning flight (after the flight), then you claim the miles with another carrier???

Typically the other carrier will query the actual one who provided the seat and verify details. During this verification they're meant to be able to see if you did credit to another airline. If you had a non-earning fare, I believe you'd be out of luck.

I had a saga with AA a couple of years ago when I credited a domestic QF flight leg to AA (to keep the miles alive) but gave them the wrong AAdvantage number, so nothing credited to me.

Long story short, after a couple of 'head against brick wall' attempts with AA to get the miles credited to my correct AA account I gave up and it only took a 2 minute phone call to QF to get QF points immediately credited for the flight. I kept the AA miles alive via another method.

Double Dipping? I'm having troubles single dipping at the moment

Long story short, two AA flights posted to one of my AA accounts when in fact they should have posted to my QF account. I spoke with AA Advantage and made a request for the reversal and was told that this would take 30-60 days! Does anyone have any experience of how long this might really take? Is it worth asking AA for a formal letter/assurance of crediting reversal to assist QF fast track it? Can AA even do this?

Good luck. Other members on here haven't had luck, even after doing a reversal. Out of interest do you still have the boarding pass. Which number is displayed on there?

I've still got both boarding passes. What makes me nervous though is the disclaimer AA give me after removing from account and sending request; once removed from AA account, it cannot ever be credited back to AA! So if it gets lost in the ether somewhere (very possible) then neither FF program will honour the flights! What a joke.

FYI, one of the BPs has 001 stock number listed, whereas the other has 'ticket required' printed since at the time I had all sorts of problems with the ticket (AONE4) - apparently it needed to be reissued but Kennedy couldn't do it in time so just gave me a BP to get on board and told me to sort it out with Dallas when I arrive there! Dallas eventually reissued after 2 hours and much difficulty, but what a nightmare. BA even denied me boarding earlier in LHR because of the need to reissue and claimed that this was AA's problem, and that they could not help me. It was only with a lot of pleading and an understanding of how OWE tickets work that I got them to issue a BP! I think the source of all my problems was AA BNE who did not reissue the ticket after I made a few date and transit/stopover changes to my itinerary after purchase but prior to trip commencement.

Just to close out my part of this thread (sorry for hijacking!), to my surprise the two AA flights posted today! That's the first business day after I requested the reversal from AA over the weekend. Well done to both QF and AA on a very speedy reversal.

Happy camper :p

Well done Gold Member. It's great when all the appropriate bits line up in the correct way :!:

This is exactly what happened to mrsdrron.Though QF had done the initial stuff up by not removing her AA number when checking in as asked.it was difficult until we got to MCO when the checkin agent obviously was a clued up fellow.by the time we got to the DFW AC and checked the flights were off her AA account and the next morning in her QFF account.
Incidentally her AA sectors for this last trip always showed up the next morning in her QFF account about 1 hour after mine showed up in my Aadvantage account.
