I was just logging onto Velocity and notice this promo if it helps anyone, I hadn't received an email on it.

Activate this offer and earn double Points* on eligible flights with Virgin Australia. Book by 17 August 2022 and travel by 4 July 2023.

*To be eligible for the Double Points promotion you must (1) Activate this offer through the activation link contained in this email between 12.01am AEST 8 August 2022 and 11.59pm 17 August 2022 inclusive (Promotion Period); (2) after offer activation, book and ticket an Eligible Flight during the Promotion Period and enter a valid Velocity membership number at the time of booking; and (3) complete travel on an Eligible Flight. An Eligible Flight is a Domestic or International Short Haul flight marketed and operated by Virgin Australia, between 12.01am AEST 8th August 2022 and 11.59pm 4 July 2023 inclusive and booked and ticketed in a fare class that normally accrues Points. Points cannot be earned on Velocity Reward Seat bookings. Codeshare services marketed or operated by partner airlines are not eligible for this offer. Bonus Velocity Points will be earned in addition to base Velocity Points earned. Bonus Points will be applied to the originally purchased fare class and any upgrades (other than when you paid the full commercial fare) will not attract Bonus Points as a result of this offer. There is no limit on the amount of times this offer can be redeemed. Velocity Points offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer or promotion. You should allow up to 4 weeks after completion of travel for the bonus Velocity Points to be allocated. Velocity membership Terms and Conditions apply.

On a related topic: Do we have a sense of when to expect the next double/triple/bonus status credits promo? Because that would be more useful to me than a few more points.

I love how they send these emails thinking that Velocity points are something.

I mean, they have a value, and arguably even a greater point-for-point value (lower redemption costs, and decent availability particularly with Singapore) than Qantas points. But I have tons and plenty of options to source more, whereas I would like to maintain the status I've reached.

More useful than Qantas points right now IMHO. 😂

Still, this promo is not going to change my booking behaviour. Like most others here I'll wait for a DSC offer.
But so are your Ansett points!!

Yes, it's the DSC offers that get the blood up. A decent credit card sign up gets more velocity points than double point offers (for many, not all, of course).

Concerning there was the promotion of bonus status credits until June 2022 ( Virgin Boosts Status Credits Until 30 June 2022 ) I'm not too sure there would be anything in the near term.

From memory, such promotions used to be around April / May or September / October.

There was a double points promotion not so long ago.

My expectation is they may run one very late this year / very early next year as a lot of platinum's would have 28th Feb 2023 as their renewal date (they may want to skip the traditional Christmas busy season, especially for 2023). However, that said they need to stop (at some point) the constant extensions and promotions and cater for genuine build of status (though a lot of people won't like that!)

Pre covid articles are now very interesting! The Death of Qantas Double Status Credits?
