The following was announced recently;

''Exclusive offer for new Frequent Flyers.

The first time you book and fly as a Qantas Frequent Flyer with Qantas anywhere, in any class of travel, between 1 June and 30 November 2009, you'll earn double points on your first one-way domestic and/or one-way international flight during that period~. ''

I am one of those QFF that joined in the above mentioned time period and will depart soon. My flight will be Melbourne to London (Heathrow), with a short stopover in Singapore (refuel). Will I get double points for Melbourne to London, or only Melbourne to Singapore?

If your ticket is issued as MEL-LHR then you get the points for Melbourne to London. If you ticket is issued as MEL-SIN-LHR then you can expect the bonus only for MEL-SIN.

It is most likely that you have a single sector booked as MEL-LHR ticket (booked as QF9 or QF29).

what about with someone booked on BA who is a first time flyer on qff.

Havn't seen the T&C's, but based on reading the quote earlier in this thread - it's a no go for bonus points on that flight (Based on BA metal / BA flight number)

Having an idea how Qantas does promotions, I believe it doesn't really stop anything... if they then flew a Qantas flight, then the double points would be awarded.

-- edit, the T&C's (posted later in this thread) are ambiguous - "Offer is valid for the first one way domestic and/or one way international flight taken during the period stated. "

Can be read either way I think (either your *first* flight only, or your *first flight on Qantas only* )

Recent T&C from an email:

Extra points will be credited to your account within 30 days of completion of travel. Points are not earned on Award bookings. Offer valid for all other bookings with a QF flight number. Offer is valid for the first one way domestic and/or one way international flight taken during the period stated. Offer is only valid for members who join the program, book and travel between 1 June and 30 November 2009 and cannot be combined with any other offers. Qualifying flights are those one way eligible flights with a single QF flight number (even if you have to change aircraft) without a stopover, and may be part of a return or multi-city itinerary. If a flight number changes (even if you continue on the same aircraft) this is considered two flights.

New QFF's who have received their cards in the mail also got a little guide book on how to earn points. It's noted in there that your first flight on QF or JQ will get you double points, but of course, only if you can earn points. So for JQ, you need the most expensive fare. My mum lucked out as our fares were JetSavers when we went to Cairns.

So does that mean with my kids who just joined QFF for the big trip to the US get double points SYD-LAX even though it was booked and paid for 6 months ago? It is their first QF flight as QFFers. That would be a nice little bonus.

They should get their membership pack in the mail soon, it'll tell you if you're eligible, but I think you should be.

Ahh it is a SYD-LHR flight on BA flight number although the first leg is on QF. Given the unique code share agreements on this route and the fact you earn 1 for 1 on either between the two i thought they might get lucky.

They must be changing the offer as the mood suits. My brochure says book and fly 1/06-30/09 and earn double on first one-way. We fly Oct...bummer ,oh well.
Cant win them all I guess, at least the points finally came through for the car we bought in April (allow 2 months..!!!) what a drama that was.

Unfortunately looks like no double points.

if you have a look a few posts up the terms and conditions say 'new members, BOOK and travel between 1 June and ....'

So if they booked 6 months ago they fall outside the deal.
