Frequent Flyer - Member Specials - Flights - Double Points on Jetstar

Travel in StarClass, Jetstar's international business class, and you can earn double Qantas Frequent Flyer points.* That's 2.5 points per mile flown, instead of the usual 1.25 points per mile.

To earn double points you must:

  • book your international StarClass flight at jetstar.com between 16 July and 16 August 2009,
  • register online for this offer between 16 July and 16 August 2009, and
  • travel with Jetstar StarClass before 30 April 2010.^
^ Travel must be on flights operated by Jetstar with 'JQ' flight number. You only need to register online once. There is no limit to the number of extra points you can earn with this offer. Extra points will be credited to your account within six weeks of completion of your travel. This offer cannot be combined with any other extra points offer and Award flight bookings do not qualify for points or extra points. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer number must be recorded in your booking before travel has commenced.
Travel between 15 December 2009 and 30 January 2010 is excluded from this offer.

The T&Cs aren't very clear as to how status bonuses are factored into the calculation (do you double your status bonus as well? What is your status bonus based on?)

There is a clause that says
This offer cannot be combined with any other extra points offer
but status bonus is not an offer, it is a FF privilege.

Apart from that, +1 that is a great deal, but only during a sale, which is unlikely to happen in the month window that the double points promo is valid for.

The T&C's of the QFF program are quite explicit that the status bonus is based on the base rate

9.5.2 A Status Bonus will be applied for Eligible Flights with a Qantas (QF), Jetstar (JQ,3K and VF), American Airlines® (AA) or British Airways (BA) flight number. The Status Bonus for Silver Members will be 25% of the Base Rate, 50% for Gold Members and 100% for Platinum Members. Status Bonuses do not apply to Award Flights.

Tentative plans to go to Bali at the end of August... but I'm not sure 4,000 points is what I want from spending that much over the base rate.

Good to know though.

Of course, with friday fares now you can go mel-bkk *class for $739 ...

That'd be useful after the bombings in Jakarta... Bali isn't looking so good. Then again, what's the likelihood they'll set off another bomb so soon, they'll have used their stocks no doubt.

The *Class specials appear one-way only.

Certainly not reduced trying to book a o/w back from Japan.

I got my bonus points to day with a little bonus. They doubled my Platinum status bonus as well :)

I also got my bonus points today for 2 * ODU. I dared to dream but thought it was asking for a bit much.

3 ODU's this year have cost a total of ~$700 above heavily discounted tickets and yielded 360 SCs and 28,585 points. Not a bad return for a leisure traveller. One more flight on QF metal and I'm silver.

If nothing major changes I will comfortably make Gold this year (June) which will hold me in good stead for a trip to Europe next year down the back.

Also got my points yesterday. They also paid on the platinium status so over 22000 points into the account :)

I didn't expect to get any as I booked my flight back in March before the offer was open but thought it was worth a shot registering given that we all know how disfunctional their booking systems are and i didn't think they would actually check the booking date.

Thanks mr JetStar. Don't know if I will ever say that again.
