I was just wondering if any long-time Velocity members could share some information regarding double SC promotions.

I believe they have occurred in the past so was just wondering whether there was any historical trends as to when they occur and whether a double SC promotion would be likely to occur this year?

You can almost set your watch by the offer for domestic double SC's for flight in January each year, especially for J travel. Relating to the usually lower 'J' loads at that time of the year.

Last year's DSC promotion at year end was even valid for international flights which was worth gold to me...

Here are few examples from recent years –

Book by 13-11-2011 fly by 31-01-2012

You can indeed earn Double Status Credit points by booking before 13 November 2011 and travelling before 31 January 2012.

And yes AIRwin, last years was good !

Book by 31-12-2013 fly between 01-02-2014 and 30-06-2014

For a limited time only, Velocity members can earn Double Status Credits when flying on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014. To take advantage of this offer, members must book by 31 December 2013. This offer is valid for new bookings made between 18 December - 31 December 2013 inclusive, for travel on eligible Virgin Australia flights between 1 February - 30 June 2014 inclusive. Eligible flights include any flights operated by Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa with a Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa (VA) flight number, and flown in a fare class and itinerary that normally earns Status Credits

I booked a lot of first half 2014 travel in Dec 13 that I knew I would have to do sometime - then, where I can I make the trips marry up with the booking already made. I book full Y, PE or J so not a lot of drama if I need to make a major change. Requal-ed Plat again easy and Mrs clivem bagged Gold companion also .....good move if you can make it work. You won't miss it on here when they come up.... the fireworks go off.

Just planning an NZ trip that is not date critical at all within reason. I'm holding off booking it waiting for the usual end of year double SC offer that normally rolls around - I will re-qual Plat easily but being able to provide Mrs clivem comp. gold status has been good as my chief financial officer and social director often travels independently.

That said the last T & C's were - Eligible flights include any flights operated by Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa with a Virgin Australia or Virgin Samoa (VA) flight number, and flown in a fare class and itinerary that normally earns Status Credits

My question - is do flights with a VA flight number but operated by Virgin Australia NZ ........ earn double SC when those offer pop-up normally ? Cheers
