Hi All,
Long time lurker, first time poster!
I had a flight SYD-OOL on Sunday, my first flight as Gold after achieving it last month
I checked in at the airport and was allocated seat 3D by the checkin staff. Boarded the plane (using the priority boarding, gotta love that ) and there was someone sitting in 3D already. They too had a boarding pass for 3D, the cabin crew said it was a double seat allocation and went to sort it out. They came back and allocated me to 2C instead with full Premium Economy service. No complaints there, I could get used to this as a Gold! Especially as it was a $50 sale fare.
I was wondering though, how does a double seat allocation happen?? How does the computer system allow the same seat to be allocated twice? Or is this standard procedure if the flight is full and the last person to board gets an upgrade?
Cheers,
Matt.
