Double sector Star Alliance Redemption?

Hello,

I've got a question for you all. If I attempt to do a Star Alliance redemption for a journey that is impossible to complete non-stop, do you get charged separately in points for EACH sector?

eg. if I want to redeem from Brisbane to Invercargill,

do I have to pay "within Southwest Pacific" points twice for both the Brisbane-Christchurch and Christchurch-Invercargill sectors?

You will only be charged only the once.

They will charge you the points based upon your Departure and Final Destination Cities.

ie points from what Region you leave in, and what Region you arrive in.

So, therefore, was it possible to fly on star alliance to anywhere in the "South West Pacific" for only 35000 Krisflyer miles, effectively four business class sectors? Has anyone tried it?
And to which places is this feasible? Noumea? Fiji? Papeete? Anyone enjoy their trip?

Correct. I have done SYD-AKL-PPT return on Business. Absolute bargain.

I also did SYD-WLG (stopover)- AKL-PPT(destination)-AKL-SYD. That is also allowed.

And yes I absolutely enjoyed it!

You can also do Cook Islands, Tonga, Samoa, Tahiti ....... Not sure about Norfolk Island and Vanuatu as last time I want to do this it was considered backtracking.

Yes, but good luck with availability in Business!

I did MEL-AKL-PPT return in business a couple of years ago, and will be doing it again in a couple of months (although could only get the MEL-AKL in business, the AKL-PPT will be in economy... still worth the 35,000 points).

Indeed, it is not as easy as it was a few years ago, but still good value.

A few years back NZ refitted most (or all?) of their 320s into a 1.5 class config (Y, and Y with extra legroom).

763s, 772s, and 744s still operate between AU and NZ, but only on certian days.

Hi I have a question on redemption. My friend is nominated friend on my kris account and also has their own. They do not have enough of their own points.
If they ask can the total points be pooled between both accounts so that they can get a return ticket (one booking) on a Star Alliance flight.

i.e so when they call up the operator will take points from their account and the extra balance needed taken from my account. If it is 2 separate oneway bookings, then more points will be taken from my account and they will have wasted points sitting in their account. Thanks.

No, that is not possible either unfortunately. However do they have a MR account? because it is possible to transfer points from one MR account to another.
