Downgrade from Gold to Silver

on 31/10/2017 I'll lose Gold status (not worried about losing gold).

We are planning a trip around then (end Oct or early Nov departure, but are flexible).

So whats the best thing to do in terms of maximising qualifying for silver for the following 12 months (starting 1/11/2017)

I realise if we depart before 31/10, I get access to lounges, extra luggage etc, but not sure what happens to those status miles earnt come 1/11?

hmm, no replies... maybe I didn't explain my conundrum properly?

With qantas I seem to lose my status every year on 30/06, and no status points carry over.

With SQ, if I fly on 28/10 (couple of days before my Gold expiry on 31/10), will those status miles "reset" come 1/11?
OR
with SQ is it "rolling" 12 months IE, within any 12 month period if I fly 25000/50000 miles I achieve silver/gold respectively?
