With receipt of my company's latest yearly report, we've dropped our surcharge to the minimum rate across all cards.

1.15% which was the percentage for MasterCard Credit. On average, across all cards, the percentage was closer to 1.285% but due to our payment gateway not being able to identify specific card types, we had to use the lowest per the ACCC advice published on their website.

We made the decision to not split out Amex cards due to American Express' dubious practice of withdrawing discounted rates to merchants who differentiate the surcharge between Amex and non-Amex cards. This decision was made to benefit customers.

This only applies to [our] Australian Operations, and does not affect [our company] in New Zealand.

I would value input from other company operations directors as well as consumers in the Automotive Performance Parts segments, regarding what they think of this approach.

Note that the ACCC ban does not affect Amex direct cards vs Amex Companion Cards, which oddly are processed in an identical manner by Merchant account providers.
