Question for the AFF massive...
I've been to Darwin many times but never as a transit from domestic to international. Is it just a 5 min stroll from one small terminal to another? (like Cairns for example)

I'm of to Bali in Sep with Mrs Shambles and have added a bit of a status run arriving into DRW at (allegedly) 14.35 and toying with which JQ connection to DPS to book. There is a 16.10 and a 19.30. Obviously I'd rather get on the 16.10 but with JQ checkin timing restrictions etc (we'll have checked luggage) and no flow through benefits from my preceding QF J domestic sectors, I'm wondering if it's too tight if the SYD DRW QF service is delayed for any reason.

I was going to book it as a starter plus which technically is changeable but I think I'd be leaving myself open to a potential fare difference if I miss the earlier flight and the later one turns out to be pretty full on the day.

Any advice or prior experience appreciated.

(also, is there a QP in DRW international?)

cheers

DRW Domestic and International are the same, you have to leave the QP to go through customs etc, very similar to ADL but a lot smaller.

Its not true what people say about you boss... you are a dead set legend :)

FYI, The coffee shop is always open in Darwin until the last flight leaves, but the Qantas Club is only open for Qantas flights in Domestic.

So it sounds like I should be OK booking the earlier JQ flight that leaves 90 mins after my domestic QF ETA. Just a case of grabbing bags and hitting the JQ checkin by 15.10.

thanks again guys

Are you booking it all through the QF website so it's on the one pnr?

In any case even if you have separate QF & JQ pnrs QF at SYD Domestic terminal should be able to add in your JQ flight to your checkin record so your bags can be through checked SYD QF x/DRW JQ DPS.

Sometimes you get your JQ boarding pass but if you don't the bags will still be checked through then you'd need to go to the JQ Service Desk in DRW on the ground floor after you arrive to get your boarding passes.
