G´day there everyone,

Yesterday I did a booking via the American Airline site, for a trip from MDE to MAD and return. Some flights are AA, some are US Airways, and some BA.

When I got the email confirmation it came with a reference number for AA (AAAAAA letters only), and another for US (BBBBBB letters and numbers combo), but no BA reference. I input my QF FF number into the booking when I first did it.

After successfully going into the AA and US sites with their respective codes to do seat selection, I tried both codes in the BA site but no success. The BA site then gave a screen with more fields to search for the ticket including flight number and date. This then took me in to the site and I was able to select seats, etc and it gave me a third code (CCCCCC with numbers and letters).

All seemed fine until I went into my QF FF account and saw that there are two duplicate sets of flights, one with the CCCCCC number, and the second with yet another code DDDDDD (letters and numbers). Each set appear for the same flights, including different seat selections!!

Is this something that will sort itself out? Did my search on the BA site créate an unecessary PNR?

Sorry if the above is not clear - but in summary I believe I have a PNR for AA, another for US airways, and TWO different ones for BA.

Ive had two PNRs for a codeshare trip that was booked through VA but all sectors were on EY metal; i had both a VA and different EY PNR which both worked on their respective sites for MMB.

Two PNRs both showing in a 3rd party site (QF in your case) might be a reflection that your booking created separate PNRs for the booking and operating airlines. But this is mostly a guess, others might have more detailed inside knowledge.

Is there a codeshare flight involved where you have a flight on IB metal?

They use Amadeus for reservations so it's possible they have their own pnr.

The seating in the QF pnr may still be showing the original seats even though you havd changed it direct with thr airline.

Can you check the seat maps in Expert Flyer & see what shows as occupied?

Not unusual where codeshares are involved. I don't think anything is wrong.

Unfortunately I have never learnt how to use Expert Flyer.

Yes, one sector is a codeshare where the flight is IB but actually on BA metal. But I have checked both the Amadeus-style codes and both bring up the same set of flights on the Iberia and British Airways sites. On my Qantas account both these codes show with each having the same dates and flights.

Do both Amadeus PNRs contain all the flights? (including all AA/US flights)

Himeno, that is another odd thing:

The ticket was purchased through the AA site for 6 sectors MDE-MIA-PHL-MAD & MAD-LHR-MIA-MDE.

On BOTH the Amadeus PNRs the only sectors showing are PHL-MAD & MAD-LHR-MIA-MDE. I do not know why the first two sectors MDE-MIA-PHL are missing. (To be clear: EACH PNR has the SAME 4 sectors)

On the AA PNR all 6 sectors show.

I see this double up every time I have a QF code share booking on FJ metal heading over to Nadi.

That sounds normal.
The booking was made with Sabre, so Sabre will show all the flights. US (for the next few months) uses SHARES. BA and QF use Amadeus. The SHARES and Amadeus PNRs will only contain the flights marketed or operated by carriers using that system, and any connecting flights.

My last DONE3 booked in Sabre ended up turning into 4 different Amadeus PNRs.

Yea, this seems a usual feature of booking and operational airline connecting up - had this when booking recently with QF on EK metal, and short Channel run with BA back to LHR for Q2 home... what was interesting was it took a week or two for the EK chaffeur service to hit the QF booking , but it made it eventually, and the QF booking doesnt show the EK booking ref but i could use to view the flights on the EK website, which then revealed their booking ref - the BA booking ref is on the QF website cause QF refer you there to do your seat allocation request - finally got all that sorted today.
