Finally, you can now buy alcohol on flights to Australia from BKK. Saw this sign when I was shooting airside today. Gate delivery now operational.

They should ditch this protectionist rule and let Australian travellers buy from all airports.

A question in the other direction, can you buy duty free sealed in Sydney, then transit thru BKK to Samui or will it be nabbed in the transit.I usually buy certain items in Syd and collect on arrival when returning home. Thanks

So does this leave HKG as the only remaining port where we can't purchase liquids?

But is there anything worth buying?

They have.

All airports, except in exempt countries (currently only USA and NZ), are treated the same.

It's then up to the airport/store/airline to meet the same rules. But some airports/stores/airlines choose not to. Some later change their mind eg this store in BKK.

If you are looking for protectionism, I would suggest you look at the operators of Australian airports rather than the government.

Searching still when I flew out on 8/11.

One Australian made it known he was p****d to the security officers checking bags; purchased 500ml water to drink on board and drank it all whilst making the line wait as he did so.

You may lose it unless you check it in at BKK.

You can buy duty free in transit in BKK from international to domestic.

I believe the same LAG rules still apply for domestic & international departures at BKK & DMK when checking in. Transit-wise, I'm not sure but the airport site does indicate you need to go through security again (never had to do personally).

(Was caught in China several years back, with a 750ml bottle of JW Blue. Unlike AU, LAG restrictions were in place for domestic flights as well. Thankfully I was able to purchase a box and have it packed safely and checked it in, adding the baggage tag to my long collection.)

Security Information
International to Domestic (with a boarding pass)
International to Domestic (no boarding pass)

Have found on specials I am able to purchase alcohol at rates comparable or better than duty free
