Just double checking with those that travel lots more than me, i'm still ok to buy my duty free at Syd airport, and take it onboard and into Thailand in 2 weeks time with no problems I hope. Of course following the allowances for Thailand entrance. Nothing I should be aware of? And then i'll buy again after landing in Syd to bring back in, following aussie rules :-))

Sounds like you'd be right, so long as you're flying directly between SYD and Thailand, ie not transitting in a third airport (most likely with LAG restrictions) in the middle.

BTW I've found duty free booze to be cheaper at Thailand than in SYD. You might want to get your DF on the return leg in Thailand rather than in SYD.

No problem buying duty free in SYD and taking it into Thailand. Unfortunately the duty free alcohol allowance is only 1 litre and 200 cigarettes. If taking a risk and you are caught the fines can be very heavy.

yup... direct flights, and thanks for the tip on purchasing before return :p
Assuming you are arriving at BKK, you can purchase upon arrival - generally at a good saving!

Note that back in June, you could not buy duty free liquids at BKK on the return! (Unless these liquids were in <3oz bottles and all fitted within in your 'quart/litre' baggy.)

This is due to the main terminal being a shared arrivals/departures area with x-ray security at the gate entry (after duty free). In SIN they were getting around this by delivering D/F to the gates for you.

However... we are arriving close to midnight, so I think the BKK duty free are closed at that time, so we will have to purchase in SYD before departure.

If I remember correctly duty free shopping is open 24 hours at BKK airport.
