Just saw (on the back of the FRA announcement) that QF have loaded awards to DXB. No J seats next September but it might be time to call in that P1 benefit...

Please let us know how you go with that. I requested a classic reward recently HNL-SYD and is was refused, although it was only a few weeks prior to required travel date.

Just booked 2 JASA MEL to LHR via Dubai for September 13. Couldn't believe my luck to find them. Had already booked Classic Awards with CX but have now cancelled them. Pays to keep looking.

Has to be something wrong with it though just checked Classic award and MEL - LHR on 6th June return 15th June 256,000 points in business when goinmg via Sydney however the little note pops up your Flight from Sydney to London will be in economy what the ????

That's a well known gotcha!

Apparently you can't book awards just to DXB.

I went to book 2 F fares DXB-SYD in F. As DXB won't populate in the origin field for awards, I simply looked at a return with a dummy outbound date.

Called QF to book and was told it could not be done as QF do not have the traffic rights to DXB (yet). We are actually flying to CAI, and were going to fly EK for the other segments.

Now I would have accepted what the agent said, except that I can make a reservation for a return SYD-DXB-SYD online, including how many points, taxes etc.

So how is it that I can make a booking online for something QF agents say are impossible? If I was to book a return, would it not be ticketed? Is it a mistake that one could book this?

I am assuming awards are on QF metal. Anyone been able to use QF points flying EK metal??? Yes I am thinking of EK F he he he he :D

I wouldn't necessarily believe the agent as you can already book to DXB online - although not on QF metal. SYD-HKG-DXB on CX or (and I would advise against this routing) SYD-BKK-AMM-DXB on QF/RJ.

I will be calling in a couple of weeks to book SYD-DXB-SYD in J and will update here.
