I had an interesting experience at DXB on Monday when at the second security screening (before boarding the plane) my bag was searched and one of the two EMPTY drink bottles was confiscated. The attendant said only one EMPTY water bottle was allowed per passenger. The bag with two EMPTY water bottles inside was OK to go through the initial security screening after I checked in!
The empty containers were of no value being recycle Australian juice bottles but it was a rule I hadn't experienced previously.
And when we were all seated on the plane we were told there was an indefinite delay to departure because of "heavy traffic". The plane moved after two hours (!) and the captain gave a sort of an apology because of the "weather conditions".
