Great find, wleong.

I went to register. Clicking on the registration link will take you to the Log In page and then to a screen which should be pre-populated with your email addess from your Profile.

I completed but then got the following message:

Thanks Lindsay.

This is a copy of their automated email response I received. I think this offer is only targeted at Qantas Club members however I managed to register the whole family.

Annoying that my 2 flights to Singapore/Hong Kong both fall outside of the valid dates.

Only by a few weeks on either side :(

Oh well. Will just have to be content with my point fuelled upgrades instead :D

I got a link to it in my september frequent flyer e-statement, and had no trouble getting the email confirmation.

Nothing in the conditions mentions anything about being targetted, but I guess you'd only find out if you got the email

I swung a business trip, but for some reason they gave me SQ to fly on :(

50% points

I have a HKG flight booked November. I have registered for the extra points and assume I am entitled to them even though the booking was made before the promo was announced. ???

Another question is ...... is the 50% bonus value added to the base points and/or status points and travel class bonus points?

Cheers

Welcome to AFF, meloz. Good to see you find this site.

To answer your qestions, look at the T&C's - I've highlighted the important part:

QF T&C's said:
* This offer is only valid for Qantas international services with a 'QF' flight number on your ticket, for travel commenced between 5 October and 2 December 2005. Offer cannot be combined with any other bonus point offer and is not available in connection with Award seats. Your Qantas Frequent Flyer number must be recorded in your booking before travel has commenced. You must register for this offer online, using your membership number and PIN. You need only register once, regardless of how many times you fly. Your account will then be automatically credited with the bonus points, including any Status or Cabin bonus, once your travel is complete. Offer is subject to flight availability and schedules are subject to change and cancellation without notice.

From the first bold sentence, it would seem that it doesn't matter when you booked it, just that it is within the nominated timefame.

Looks like it's double everything  - I think you'll be happy

I went back to my September e-staement and clicked on the link there. I mut have missed it the first time around. Now when I re-registered, it gave me:

50% More Points Offer

Your registration for the 50% More Points Offer was successful.

A confirmation e-mail has been sent

I have also just registered. I don't have any firm plans to be in SIN or HKG in that timeframe, but it doesn;t cost anything to register and I often get very short notice when I do have to travel. And if I go anywhere in that time, it will mostly likely be to KUL and that means either via SIN or HKG.

I don't get it. Is it 50% more points or double?

Also, I think that the T&C "Offer cannot be combined with any other bonus point offer and is not available in connection with Award seats." means that any Gold or Plat members will not really benefit from this if the deal is 50% more points and just Plat will not benefit if double.

Any comments?

Regards
Daniel

danielh, read the T&C's for the promotion that I posted above (on 25th September) and particularly read the second bold sentence. That is clear.

I think somebody in QF Marketing needs a lesson fron NM on number-metrics

No, that is there to protect the existing promotions they already have in place and makes sure that people can't spent FF points to get back another 5,000 points. Seems sensible to me.

Ahh, that's an easy one.

You get 50% bonus points per mile flow in each direction. So for a return trip, you get double the bonus points since its double the distance. Now, if 50% of X (where X is the miles flown in one direction) is X/2, and you fly a return trip with your spouse and two cellos, you end up with X/2 four times twice for the return, making it X/2 * 4 * 2, and according to my 8th grade algebra that would be 4X, or in long form xx_X. Now we all know that xx_X can be found in the Brisbane Qantas Club lounge, but not in SIN or HKG, so you only get that once, so its xx_X even for a return trip, not 8X as one might expect.

Now we need to average the xx_X over the 4 travellers (2 adults and 2 cellos) and we get X each for a one way trip, which is double the bonus originally offered in the promotion (see above) of X/2. Hence the email reference to double bonus points and the T&C's reference to 50% bonus.

Quite simple really, and just as clear as most of the Qantas terms and conditions when it comes to SCs and FF point accrual. And the more xx_X bonuses one earns the clearer it becomes  .

But we all know that xx_X is just because banana-benders cannot spell Bravo-Echo-Echo-Romeo properly, so xx_X is substituted instead, it makes it easier for them.

Anyway, why this mention of Bravo-Echo-Echo-Romeo? I thought w all drank Hotel-Papa's at the Quebec-Papa's anyway.....

To answer danielh's question, you still get the usual status bonus on top of the promo bonus.

So normally econ/business earning rates

100%/125% miles bronze
125%/150% silver
150%/175% gold
200%/225% plat

change to

150%/187% bronze
175%/212% silver
200%/237% gold
250%/287% plat

This is the same as the recent trans-tasman bonus.

Naah, actually its because you can't write Papa-India-Siera-Siera on a can on Qld.

Now, I didn't say I drank xx_X at the BNE lounge, just that it was available  . And the SYD T1 lounge has Bravo-Osca-Alpha-Golf-Siera, which is my pre-departure ale choice.

I prefer Mike Alpha Charlie Sierra but its been a while since seen it at an airport lounge (or onboard).
