This was mentioned in one of the QF to the Middle East threads but I don't think we got a definitive answer. If you are travelling on a Etihad flight that you booked as a QF codeshare do you earn FF points and status credits? Etihad aren't listed as being one of the partner airlines on the FF webpage.

I emailed QF FF a week ago about this but haven't received a response yet.

Any info would be handy.

yes, when booked on the QF flight number you definately do.

Only issue is, are the points worth it, ive found the QF flight number alot more expensive than the non point earning EY one previously.

It's probably only going to be worth it if I can negotiate an increase in baggage allowance to 30kg - otherwise I'm going to have to fly Emirates.

I would suggest taking Emirates; I doubt that EY will just agree a free baggage increase for you

Sometimes I am successful in getting extra baggage, other times not. It partly seems to depend on whether the airline in question is one that was established by a government to assist with bringing in foreign tourists - eg I've never had a problem getting an extra allowance on Air Pacific because they understand that my work will ultimately be published and will result in more tourists. Some airlines simply believe in being nice to photographers, others cut us no slack at all and are avoided - some airports are the same - I refuse to fly through Brisbane on QF or any airline they handle such as Air Nuigini because it is not worth the grief that they give there.
